What a full bathroom renovation with DPB includes
A bathroom renovation means taking the room back to a blank shell and rebuilding it properly: removing the old suite and tiles, moving or renewing pipework where needed, repairing or re-boarding walls, updating lighting and extraction, then fitting, tiling and finishing the new room. With DPB, all of that sits under one company and one point of contact: Danny Bradshaw.
It's for homeowners in Wigan, Leigh, Chorley, Warrington, Manchester and the surrounding areas who want the job done once and done right. Typical customers have a tired family bathroom, a leaking shower tray, cracked tiles or a layout that simply doesn't work, and they don't want to coordinate four or five different trades to fix it.
Most people come to us when something has started to fail, grout going black, a bath panel swelling, a toilet that rocks, a ceiling stain below, or when they're preparing to sell, have just moved in, or have finally had enough of a 1990s suite. The best time to act is before small leaks become rotten joists.
Professional installation matters because a bathroom is a wet room built on top of a timber or concrete floor, with hot and cold supplies and waste pipes hidden behind every surface. The finish you see, straight tiles, tight silicone, a shower that drains properly, depends entirely on the preparation you don't see. Danny has spent over 20 years getting that preparation right.
What happens when a bathroom is left, or fitted badly
Bathrooms rarely fail all at once. Water finds its way out slowly, and by the time you see it, the damage is usually behind the tiles or under the floor.
Hidden leaks spread
A failed seal around a bath or shower lets water track into the floor void. Left for months, it can rot joists and floorboards and stain or bring down the ceiling below, turning a bathroom refit into structural repair.
Mould and damp return
Poor extraction, failed grout and cold walls create the conditions for black mould. Cleaning treats the surface; it keeps coming back until the cause is fixed.
Costs climb the longer you wait
Replacing a suite is one cost. Replacing a suite, joists, plasterboard and the kitchen ceiling underneath is a very different one.
Common mistakes we see
- Hiring separate trades who don't talk to each other, so the electrician is waiting on the plasterer and the tiler arrives before the walls are ready.
- Tiling over old, uneven or water-damaged walls instead of re-boarding them first.
- Choosing the cheapest quote that leaves out strip-out, waste removal, making good or electrics, then paying for them later.
- Buying a suite before anyone has measured the room and checked the pipework, then finding it doesn't fit.

Bathroom renovation in detail: materials, methods and options
Every bathroom is different, but the decisions behind a good one are the same. Here's what Danny will talk through with you.
Layouts and suites
Options range from a like-for-like replacement of bath, basin and toilet to a full re-plan: swapping a bath for a walk-in shower, adding a vanity unit with storage, wall-hung toilets with concealed cisterns, or a freestanding bath. Moving a toilet or waste is possible in many homes but depends on the floor and drainage, which is why the survey comes first.
Walls and waterproofing
Old tiles are removed and walls are checked. Where plaster is blown or the surface is uneven, it's repaired or re-boarded so tiles sit flat. Shower areas need a properly waterproofed backing; this is the single most important step for preventing future leaks.
Tiling and finishes
From large-format porcelain to traditional ceramic or feature walls, the tiling is where customers notice the difference. Straight lines, even grout joints and neat cuts around fittings come from patient setting-out before the first tile goes on. Customers often comment on details like built-in shower shelves and niches.
Electrics, lighting and extraction
Bathrooms have specific electrical safety requirements. Danny's electrician handles lighting, shaver points, extractor fans and heated towel rails, so the room is safe, well lit and properly ventilated.
Flooring
Floors may need levelling or new boards before tiles or vinyl go down. A solid, flat base stops tiles cracking and keeps the toilet and bath sitting firm.
Supplying your own suite
You can buy your own bathroom suite and have DPB fit it. Danny can advise on what to buy and check sizes before you order. Note that terms and conditions apply to the guarantee on customer-supplied products.
Homes vs commercial properties
Domestic bathrooms are about comfort, storage and style. Commercial washrooms are about durability, accessibility and minimal downtime, see our commercial bathroom page for how those jobs differ.
Planning your new bathroom: a practical guide
Start with how you use the room
Before choosing tiles or taps, think about the day-to-day. Who uses the bathroom and when? Do you bathe or shower? Do you need storage for a family, or is it a guest room? Danny asks these questions at the survey because the answers shape the layout, and the layout matters more than any single product.
Set a realistic budget
The biggest variables in a bathroom are the suite you choose, how much pipework moves, and the condition of the walls and floor once the old room comes out. A written quote that includes strip-out, plastering, electrics, tiling and flooring lets you compare like with like, rather than discovering extras halfway through.
Bathroom Installation & Renovation: common questions
How much does a new bathroom cost in Wigan?
Every bathroom is priced individually after a free survey, because the cost depends on room size, the suite you choose, how much pipework moves and the condition of the walls and floor. You'll get a written quote covering the whole job, including strip-out, plastering, electrics, tiling and flooring.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
Timescales depend on the scope of the bathroom work. Larger rooms or jobs that involve moving drainage can take longer. Danny will give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
Do I need to arrange a plasterer, electrician or tiler?
No. Danny plans the job and schedules his own trusted joiners, plasterers, electricians and floor fitters. You deal with one company from start to finish.
What guarantee do I get on a bathroom?
Every bathroom installation carries a 48-month (4-year) workmanship guarantee. That covers the installation work Danny and his team carry out. Terms and conditions apply to fixtures and materials you supply yourself, so if you're buying your own suite, Danny will talk you through what is and isn't covered before work starts.
Is the quote really free?
Yes. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. Danny visits, looks at the room, the pipework and the walls, and gives you a written price. If you decide not to go ahead, that's the end of it, no follow-up pressure.
Will I be without a toilet?
Where it's your only toilet, Danny plans the work to keep the time without one as short as possible. Talk to him about this at the survey and it'll be built into the plan.
How long will a new bathroom last?
A properly prepared and waterproofed bathroom should last many years. The things that shorten a bathroom's life, leaks behind tiles, failing seals, poor extraction, are exactly what good preparation prevents.
Do you accept call-outs?
We don't run a 24/7 service. Bathroom work is planned and booked in. If you have a leak or a problem that can't wait, ring Danny on 07951 583606, if he's available, he'll come out.
Do you cover areas outside Wigan?
Yes. We fit bathrooms across Wigan, Manchester, Preston, Leigh, Astley, Warrington, Worsley, Chorley, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Standish, Hindley and Atherton.
